In this especially nice 11" x 14" acrylic on canvas signed and dated M Locke OLA 2022,  Locke paints an idyllic, almost paradisical, camp scene. The camp is blessed by an eagle, buffalo spirits, family (represented by the hands), and dragonflies, and is nestled in the hills of the Pine Ridge reservation with the sacred Paha Sapa - Black Hills - in the background. The tipi and sky are especially nice in this work.

Painted while he was hospitalized, this beautiful piece represents some amazing perseverance - and perhaps his dream of an idyllic paradise - as the artist kept painting through a serious illness.
