In this 12" x 12" acrylic on canvas signed and dated M Locke OLA 2022, Locke paints a familiar scene including the hills around his home, Porcupine, South Dakota.

Painted while he was hospitalized, the piece is not perfect but represents some amazing perseverance as the artist kept painting through a serious illness.

Dragonflies, turtles and hands surround two feathers that sway from a traditional medicine wheel.
